The CBOE has an event in several locations coming up in the next couple of months on trading index options. An options instructor will be going over strategies to use for trading index options such as credit spreads, debit spreads and diagonal spreads.

CBOE has excellent webcasts and all you have to do is sign up for them. They have THE best free option training …an upcoming seminar is on Butterflys an excellent option trading strategy. It fits very well with credit spread strategy in fact it is possible to work your adjustments of a credit spread into a butterfly to lock in profit given the right set of circumstances.

Options Xpress Open House

Sorry for such a late notice but… tomorrow Options Xpress is having an open house.

Tuesday, September 23rd: Visit optionsXpress downtown headquarters and listen to Steve Meizinger-ISE discuss Trading Calendar Spreads.

Calendar Spreads is a favored strategy here at Option Spreads, specifically Diagonal Spreads, hopefully Steve Meizinger will cover diagonals at his presentation. The open house starts at 6:30PM and will end at 9:00PM. It will be held at the downtown office (Monroe and Franklin) in the 11th Floor Conference Room. And best of all it is FREE!

The Pursuit of Happyness’ Christopher Gardner at OptionsXpo

Christopher Gardner who’s autobiography is the basis for the movie The Pursuit of Happyness will be the keynote speaker for OptionsXpress’ OptionsXpo 2007.

OptionsXpo will be in Chicago on October 25-27 at the Sheraton. If you sign up before June 30th the price is $495 after is $100 more. Some of the breakout sessions include Conservative Options for the long term investor (a favorite for me), Diagonal Spreads vs Covered calls (diagonals all the way), then some basic programs which are extrmely important for the beginning options trader such as Fundamental terms, technical analysis, time decay, volatility, and TAXES!

And Christopher Gardner to be the keynote speaker. If you hav not read his autobiography or seen the movie it is well worth it. He is a true rags to riches story. A man that lived the success equation, he put everything on the line for a dream and kept on keeping on with a lot of determination and he succeeded. The hardships he had and the set backs that just kept seeming to pound him back but he kept going forward.

Definitely a worth while event, hopefully I can make it, it is my wife’s birthday on the 27th so I might have to bribe her a little bit.
